Guest Strip: Registered Weapon

Registered Weapon Guest Strip

The gang over at Registered Weapon asked me to do a guest strip this week as they prepare for their next big story arc. If you haven’t read Registered Weapon before, here’s the lowdown: two cops, one is on the edge, the other is a cash register. Together, they police the streets of LA.

It’s brilliant.

This week’s guest strips have focused in on telling a story from the core characters’ pasts, and I decided to illustrate TATM’s First Lawsuit (TATM being another police robot who was converted from an ATM to a sultry siren of justice). Go read it now!

Membership Drive Update and New Lydia

Lydia!

Hello, everybody! I just wanted to give you an update on the Membership Drive idea I floated out here a couple weeks ago. Many of you sent me private emails or found me on Twitter as well as commenting here on the site. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, so, this is gonna happen. I need a little time to get it all set up, but I’ll be posting a membership page and t-shirt design soon.

I had meant to get back to you about this sooner, but I’ve been really busy finishing up an all-new Lydia story for the upcoming collection! Lydia: The More Than Complete Edition will contain all of the strips that Kevin Church and I did last year, as well as 22 new pages of material. Kevin wrote a hilarious new script. The book will be making it’s debut at the San Diego Comicon this year. We’ll be posting new information about how to buy it as we get closer to the summer, but I think everyone will enjoy it!

Oh and hey look! Here’s a 4-page preview you can read right now!

I Need Your Input!

Hello, friends!

How are things going for you? Spring is here! For most of us, I think we all like to do a little spring cleaning around our homes, and here too, at Drunk Elephant Comics, I would like to do some cleaning.

I’d like to get rid of my advertising. Those banner ads you see everywhere that probably don’t interest you in the slightest? Those.

At the same time, as much as I like providing you with free content to consume, it takes an awful lot of time for me to make all that content. So I have to balance this workload with my desire to keep it all free for people (because honestly, who doesn’t love free comics – I love the heck out of free comics). I have also received many emails inquiring about t-shirts.

I think I have a solution, and I would really like your input. Here’s my plan:

  1. I take all the banner ads off the site, except for the Drink Recipe section.
  2. We have an annual membership drive – for any donation over $19, I will send you a t-shirt and a free sketch of your favorite Drunk Elephant character. You can give more if you like, but over $19 gets you a t-shirt and a free sketch.
  3. Each year, we do a new t-shirt design.
  4. If you don’t donate, guess what? It’s all still free and there are still no ads.

I know I have a loyal audience out there: you. You are all very awesome, and I’d like to hear from you if you are interested in this idea. If I have enough people interested, I’ll look into doing this seriously. If not, no biggie – nothing changes! Drunk Elephant Comics keeps on keeping on. This is basically a win for everyone: we take out the ads, you get an awesome t-shirt and you help support this site. If you aren’t interested in t-shirts. or this idea, the comic keeps coming out (just with ads instead).

I really want to stress this: the comic will keep coming out regardless of what you choose. One way gets you a t-shirt. The other way gets you ads. That’s it.

So let’s do this: leave me a comment on this post, OR if you would rather keep your thoughts between me and you, use the Contact form to send me a private message, okay? I’m really interested in what you all have to say, so go ahead and share!

Thanks, everyone!

One More Guest Strip For The Rack

Lydia and Rick get all Daft Punk on The Rack

One more guest strip this week for the gentlemen at The Rack, this time featuring Lydia and Rick rocking out like Daft Punk. Friends, for real, this is what The Rack is like all the time. It’s pretty much one of the greatest webcomics out there. So if you’re bored at work, or researching what that red bump on your inner thigh is on WebMD, I feel like this webcomic will cure what ails you.

Guest Strip over at The Rack

Lydia

My loyal readers, I have great news. I have done another guest strip over at The Rack. It was strange to revisit Lydia after all this time, but it was worth it. I’ll have another Rack strip this week, also. And if you for some reason don’t read The Rack already, you should be doing that because Mister Church and Mister Birdie? They bring the funny all the time.
