A Rum & Coke Is Not A Mixed Drink...

… it’s amateur hour. Sure, we all have our fallbacks, depending on the quality of the bar we’re at, but did you know that there are a wealth of different sort of drinks you could try with your favorite ingredients? Take your rum and Coke: add some lime juice and a fresh lime and you have a Cuba Libre and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Demand better drinks, and if your bartender doesn’t know how to make one, print off one of these recipes. Once upon a time, every bartender knew how to make all of these drinks. If they aren’t willing to do it, find someplace that will. Life is too short for a lifetime of just cheap, flat domestic beers and liqueur you can mix with cola. Enjoy!

Random Drink Recipe

Fishhouse Punch
  • 1 ½ cups of sugar
  • 1 qt. of Lemon juice
  • 2 qt. Dark Rum
  • 2 qt. Spring water
  • 4 oz. Peach Brandy
  • 1 qt. Cognac
  • Block of Ice
  • 1 cup Peaches (sliced and peeled)

Place sugar and lemon juice in a chilled punch bowl and stir to dissolve sugar. Add alcohol and water and mix. Let punch sit at room temperature for two hours and add ice just before serving. Garnish with peaches. Makes 1 ½ gallons.
